Do lions attack elephants?

Elephant calves have occasionally been attacked by lions when no adults were present. However, a fully grown elephant is more than a match for any pride of lions. It has been reported from Botswana that elephants up to 15 years old have been killed by lions. The possibility of elephants of this age being handicapped in one way or another should not be excluded.
