Where Is Hlane Royal National Park?

Royal Hlane National Park is Eswatini’s largest protected area, located in the northeastern Lubombo region near the South African border and within easy reach of Marloth Park.

The name Hlane means “wilderness” in siSwati, which fits its open plains, raw safari atmosphere, and practical bush experience. This is a good fit for travellers looking for something more rugged and intimate than a mainstream lodge stay.

Wildlife and Conservation

Hlane is known for some of southern Africa’s strongest white rhino viewing, making it one of the best-value rhino safari experiences near Marloth Park. The park is also home to other iconic wildlife including elephants, giraffes, zebra, hippos, antelope species, and excellent birdlife.

The overall feel is different from Kruger: less crowded, more rugged, and especially rewarding for travellers who appreciate open plains, strong wildlife encounters, and a more stripped-back bush atmosphere.
