Homemade Rusks Recipe (2kg)

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 teaspoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
  3. Add butter: Rub butter into the dry ingredients until well combined.
  4. Prepare wet ingredients: Mix milk with vinegar, eggs, and vanilla essence in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine ingredients: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix to form a dense dough.
  6. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
  7. Prepare for baking: Spread the mixture evenly on a baking tray greased with butter.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes using the bottom burner.
  9. Bake for 10 minutes using the top burner.
  10. Remove from oven and allow to cool on a baking grill.
  11. Place on a cutting board and slice into pieces 3 cm thick by 10 cm long.
  12. Place on a large tray and return to the oven (turned off).
  13. Leave in the oven until the next day at 2 PM, then bake for 10 minutes with the top burner.
  14. Turn off the oven and leave the rusks inside for 20 minutes.
  15. Bake again for 10 minutes with the top burner, then turn off and leave for another 20 minutes.
  16. Remove from oven, let cool, and store in an airtight container.
