Homemade Rusks Recipe (2kg)
Ingredients:
- 8 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups butter
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 4 teaspoons vinegar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
Steps:
- Preheat the oven.
- Mix dry ingredients: Combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Add butter: Rub butter into the dry ingredients until well combined.
- Prepare wet ingredients: Mix milk with vinegar, eggs, and vanilla essence in a separate bowl.
- Combine ingredients: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix to form a dense dough.
- Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
- Prepare for baking: Spread the mixture evenly on a baking tray greased with butter.
- Bake for 45 minutes using the bottom burner.
- Bake for 10 minutes using the top burner.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on a baking grill.
- Place on a cutting board and slice into pieces 3 cm thick by 10 cm long.
- Place on a large tray and return to the oven (turned off).
- Leave in the oven until the next day at 2 PM, then bake for 10 minutes with the top burner.
- Turn off the oven and leave the rusks inside for 20 minutes.
- Bake again for 10 minutes with the top burner, then turn off and leave for another 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven, let cool, and store in an airtight container.
