Can the leopard be a danger to humans?

Although the leopard is elusive where man is concerned, it is very bold and courageous. Should a leopard consider itself to be in danger or cornered, it will not hesitate to attack viciously. It is said this large cat will attack more readily than a lion when encountered in the bush. Due to its elusiveness and low density, however, close contact between leopards and humans seldom occurs.
