How to Get to Kruger Park Hostel
Kruger Park Hostel is located at 313 Varing Street, Marloth Park, Mpumalanga, South Africa — inside a wildlife conservancy bordering Kruger National Park.
For most guests, the easiest way to reach us is by shuttle from O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg), by airport transfer from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA / Mbombela / Nelspruit), or by self-drive to Marloth Park.

- From KMIA / Mbombela: private hostel transfer
- By car: easy self-drive access via the Tenbosch Road entrance

Getting Here by Car
If you are driving to Kruger Park Hostel, use the Tenbosch Road entrance into Marloth Park. This is the second entrance off the N4 when arriving from the Malelane / Johannesburg side, and it is the recommended approach because it is a tar road all the way into Marloth Park.
Driving Tips
- Use Google Maps or a reliable GPS before entering Marloth Park
- Aim to arrive in daylight if possible
- Let us know if you expect to arrive late
- Drive carefully once inside Marloth Park, as wildlife may be on the roads
Why Self-Drive Works Well
- Flexible arrival times
- Easy access to Kruger National Park gates
- Ideal if you are continuing to Eswatini or Mozambique
- Useful for travellers building their own Southern Africa route
Shuttle from O.R. Tambo Airport (Johannesburg)
For many international backpackers, the simplest option is to fly into O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and continue by shuttle to the hostel. Your current Directions page lists WE Safari Africa Shuttles as a direct option, with drop-off at Kruger Park Hostel.
The journey from O.R. Tambo to Kruger Park Hostel is approximately 420km, around 6 hours by shuttle or about 5 hours by car, depending on conditions.
There is also a alternative to WE Safari Africa Shuttles and that is JSL Transport.

If you are landing in Johannesburg and do not want to hire a car, this is usually the easiest and most budget-friendly way to reach the hostel.
Flying to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA)
If you are flying domestically from Johannesburg or Cape Town, Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) near Mbombela / Nelspruit is one of the most practical arrival airports.
Your current Directions page states that KMIA is about 1.5 hours’ drive from the hostel, but that there are no regular buses or standard shuttle services between the airport and Marloth Park, so guests usually need a separate transfer.
Best for
- Guests connecting from Cape Town or Johannesburg
- Travellers who want a shorter airport-to-hostel journey
- Guests booking a pre-arranged hostel transfer
Flying to Skukuza Airport
Skukuza Airport (voted best Airport in the World) is as another option, with scheduled flights from Johannesburg or Cape Town. Skukuza is located in the National Park, and though technically closer to the ostel then Nelspruit, it is a two hour drive from the hostel due to speed limits in the park.
From Skukuza, guests normally need either a rental car or a pre-arranged transfer to reach Kruger Park Hostel.

- Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA)
- Skukuza Airport

- Crocodile Gate (Kruger National Park)

If you are arriving without your own vehicle, we recommend contacting us in advance so we can help you arrange the easiest transfer for your route.
Getting Here from Mozambique / Maputo

This is especially useful for travellers combining Kruger National Park, Marloth Park and the Mozambique coast in one trip.
