The journey there is part of the adventure—expect an exciting 4x4 drive through sandy tracks for the final 20 km. Once you arrive, it’s all about nature: no shops, no vendors—just endless stretches of pristine beach and a peaceful campsite nestled behind the dunes.

Tour Details:

How do I book the Campismo da Cuna camping trip?
To book or check availability, please email Marion@KrugerParkHostel.com. She will confirm dates, availability, and secure your booking.
How much notice do I need to give before booking?
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required. However, the more notice you give us, the easier it is for us to prepare food, logistics, and transport.
Do trips depart on fixed dates?
No. Trips can depart any time as long as we have at least one confirmed guest, a vehicle, and a qualified driver available.
What is the minimum and maximum group size?
Minimum 1 guest, maximum 4 guests. With at least 2 weeks’ notice, we can accommodate groups of up to 10 guests.
Can solo travellers join?
Yes. Solo travellers are very welcome, and we will group guests together when possible.
Where does the trip depart from?
All trips depart from and return to Kruger Park Hostel in Marloth Park.
How long is the drive and what is the road like?
The journey takes approximately 6 hours. The final 20 km is a slow 4x4 sand drive through dunes and takes around 2 hours.
What do I need for the Mozambique border crossing?
A valid passport and, if required, a Mozambique visa. Visa-on-arrival fees must be paid by Visa card only. Cash and Mastercard are not accepted.
Is there mobile signal or Wi‑Fi?
No. Campismo da Cuna is completely off-grid with no signal or Wi‑Fi.
Are there shops or ATMs nearby?
No. There are no shops, vendors, or ATMs once we depart.
What is included?
All camping fees, tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, sleeping bag liners, and all main meals (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners).
What is not included?
Drinks, visa fees, lunch on travel days, and personal expenses.
Are drinks included?
No. A limited selection can be purchased at the hostel before departure and stored in the fridge. Additional drinks may be brought if they fit in your personal storage box.
Which meals are provided?
Day 1: Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 3: Breakfast
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes, vegetarian and vegan diets can be accommodated with at least 48 hours’ notice.
What sleeping setup is provided?
Tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, and liners are provided. Guests may bring their own pillow for extra comfort.
What should I pack?
Sun protection, insect repellent, headlamp, cash, power bank, and personal toiletries.
Is swimming safe?
Swimming is generally safe, but there are no lifeguards, no shark nets, and occasional jellyfish may occur.
What facilities are available?
Toilets and showers with hot water available in the evenings.
What happens if weather or road conditions are unsafe?
Trips usually go ahead if conditions are safe, but we reserve the right to cancel or postpone for safety reasons.
When is payment due?
Full payment is required at the time of booking. Secure online payment, bank transfer, or card payment is accepted.
What is the cancellation policy?
Full refund if cancelled 48 hours or more before departure. No refunds within 48 hours.
What if I’m denied entry at the border?
No refunds can be offered if entry is denied due to documentation or visa issues.
Is malaria a concern?
Kruger Park Hostel is a low-risk area. Campismo da Cuna is a higher-risk area. Malaria prophylaxis and insect protection are strongly recommended.
Is medical support available?
No medical facilities are available onsite. Guests must rely on personal travel insurance.
How do I charge devices?
Solar batteries are available for charging small USB devices.
Should I buy a local SIM or eSIM?
No. There is no mobile signal where we camp.
