Do the home ranges of lions overlap?

Home ranges often overlap, but activity zones or focuses of activity seldom do. Very often two prides in an area will deliberately avoid each other to prevent a confrontation, and direct confrontation is remarkably infrequent, as are actual fights between members of different prides.
